Avital Handler

Ms. Avital Handler is the Principal Tuba Player of the Israel Symphony Orchestra Rishon Le'Zion which is the orchestra of the Israel Opera House. She has held the position since 2001.

During her career, Ms. Handler performed with all the major orchestras in Israel. 

The Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, the Jerusalem Symphony, The Raanna Symphonette Orchestra amongst others. 
Ms. Handler also performed as a soloist with the Rishon Symphony, The Holon Chamber orchestra and the Israel Chamber Orchestra. 

Ms. Handler released her solo disc “Tuba in the city”, which received wonderful reviews and success.

Ms. Handler has had an intensive chamber music career as well. She established and performed with the Israel Brass Quintet for fifteen years and went on several International tours with the group.
 
Whilst performing in conferences in the USA, Ms. Handler decided to form the Israel Tuba Duo.
The Tuba duo earned huge success after releasing their disc “Tubalicious”. The Duo performed all over Israel and went on International tours to the USA, Spain, Holland and Albania. The duo members are ARResonance performing artists and perform with ARResonance mouthpieces. They have recently concluded their recording of their new disc “Sweet for Two” which will be released shortly.

 
Ms. Handler is a recording artist for shows and movies in Israel. In the past few years she recorded for several movies and has trained actors to perform with the tuba in shows.

Ms. Handler works as a tuba teacher in the Rubin Academy in Jerusalem. She taught students all over Israel in conservatories and Academies as well. Ms. Handler judges at Brass competitions in Israel that aim to scout the extraordinary talents of young upcoming players.
 
Furthermore, Ms. Handler has given masterclasses in International festivals all over the world (Brazil, England, Spain, Albania, Holland and the USA). Ms. Handler is a sought after guest lecturer as well. In 2023 Ms Handler performed in Jaen Spain on International women’s day and performed the world premiere of the piece Trinity. In 2024 she performed and lectured at Universities on the East coast and was a guest artist at the prestigious “Domaine Forget” Academy in Canada.
 
Ms. Handler studied in the USA. At Boston University she earned a bachelor degree in Music performance and Psychology, and in Manhattan school of music her Masters of Music.

Ms. Handler is part of the team of esteemed artists at Eastman. She performs her orchestral work on the EBC836 and is thrilled to be considered an Eastman Artist.
